WASHINGTON -- In a nod to a dramatic shift in public opinion, Barack Obama on Wednesday became the first sitting president to announce his support for same-sex marriage. In a sit-down interview with ABC's Robin Roberts, Obama completed what has been a markedly long and oft-mocked evolution on the matter. "I've always been adamant that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly," Obama told Roberts, in an interview that will air in full on ABC's "Good Morning America" Thursday. "I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that Don't Ask Don't Tell is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I've just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married," he said. The statement constitutes an act of political bravery on the president's behalf, as well as a major victory for the gay rights community, which has been pushing him to declare his support for marriage equality for several years. Still, the symbolism of Obama's remarks is hard to ignore. In becoming the first president to ...
Planting spring puppies? My sister Ashley and nephew Malique went out on a wonderful spring day with all our dogs (and 9 puppies) and enjoyed the weather, danced, played, and planted sunflowers. I can't wait for them to come up! The rottweiler puppies are the offspring of our two rottweilers Kia and Diesal. They are cute and for sell...if interested. :-) Also Eddie is there!!!! (My dog) Dakoda and Rex (my sisters pitt bulls) it was an all around fun day!
I've been MIA for quite sometime from the YouTube community. I'm sorry and I'm back. Check out the video to see what's been going on with me. I am in the middle of trying out new editing software so this video may reflect that. No worries I'll get the hang of it. Enjoy the vid.
This is totally out of the ordinary but I've fallen flat on my face for this artist who has been on my play-list for two + years. And I've always had once and a while listens that I enjoyed, but recently I started listening a lot and the context and meanings and I'm like wow, she's awesome. Her albums are Begin To Hope - and - Far. Both are great, I'm hooked on Far right now. Song: Dance Anthem Of the 80's (terrible title I think) but I song you will die for each and every time. The whole album is packed with meaning.
It's happen before, and I hope it won't again I've taken a break from YouTube. Never fear I'm back in full business bringing you the crazy. I hope you'll rejoin and see what you can make of me.
I wanted to drop a quick vid about the Japan quake. You are all in my heart. Also Kiara wanted to INVADE the video.
The last time I posted a video on YouTube was May of 2011, I've been through so many things good and bad. Through it all I've been working and trying to find myself...I'm almost there. Have a ways to go. I'm ready to go the rest of the way with you viewers. Stick with me. -Allen
Trayvon Martins' death is sad. He was unarmed and he was minding his business (so we've been told). It's only natural the black community is upset about the lost of one of our young ones to something so senseless. however, I urge everyone to step back, look at the facts and pray for a through fact-finding trial.
