ps22chorus.blogspot.com http twitter.com On Saturday, the PS22 Chorus of 2012 joined the absolutely incredible Gym Class Heroes onstage right here on our home turf of Staten Island at Wagner College during the group's college tour! The kids were invited to back the band up on "The Fighter" after Travie McCoy and the Heroes caught wind of the PS22 cover of the song we did back in November! The band was a dream to work with -- so respectful of the kids and appreciative of their contribution! This performance of "Stereo Hearts" was done for fun at soundcheck and the kids had a blast singing one of their favorite songs with one of their favorite bands! Hugest thanks go to Gym Class Heroes and their manager Scott Nagelberg for arranging the collaboration -- safe to say it's a moment in time we'll all never forget!
ps22chorus.blogspot.com http twitter.com More delicious ear candy from our fab fifth graders as they put a new spin on Mat Kearney's inspirational song, "Sooner Or Later!" The PS22 Chorus of 2012 is on a roll, and this is another definite standout performance! Very proud to share this one....
ps22chorus.blogspot.com http twitter.com After Kevin did such a brilliant job jamming with Carrie Underwood, we decided he finally deserved his long-standing song request fulfilled.... so here is an absolutely joyous and powerful version of "We Are Young" by Fun., led by the inimitable Kevin-meister! These kids just keep getting better and better....
ps22chorus.blogspot.com http twitter.com PS22 Chorus of 2012 delves into untread territory with this beautiful song from the musical Les Miserables written by Claude-Michel Schönberg, Alain Boublil, and Herbert Kretzmer adapted from the novel by Victor Hugo. Soloist Faith had sung this for me at the beginning of the school year and it definitely was on my list of things to do before the year's end. Very happy with the arrangement -- the chorus sounds haunting and Faith is at her best! Thrilled with how this turned out....
ps22chorus.blogspot.com http facebook.com twitter.com This video is the more emotionally driven of PS22's two recent performances with Carrie Underwood. Whereas our first collaboration on the previously posted "Good Girl" is an energy-driven rollercoaster ride, this version of Carrie's hit, "So Small," is a stunning impassioned masterpiece. Our personal favorite moment comes at the conclusion of the second verse, when Kahlil and Kiarah get together for a gorgeous duet on the second verse, and Carrie, obviously lost in the moment, almost forgets to come in on the refrain! Some fantastic bonus footage (both silly and emotional) from the visit is included here as well... Many thanks to Carrie for bringing love and joy to PS22, and giving the PS22 Chorus of 2012 an experience we'll all not soon forget.
ps22chorus.blogspot.com http twitter.com Yesterday the PS22 Chorus was fortunate enough to be part of one of our most epic musical collaborations with the incredible band Walk The Moon! Aside from being an extremely musically prolific afternoon (lots of vids to look forward to), it was a thoroughly inspiring one as well! The kids and the band were completely in awe of each other, and had a cosmic blast getting together on some of the band's songs, and even some impromptu performances! This first vid is one of my favorites and is sure to jump start your day, as the kids join in on a super-charged acoustic version of Walk The Moon's song "I Can Lift A Car!" This ought to get your adrenalin going, and whet your appetite for the many more videos on the way from our amazing day with the band! Brace yourself..... Check out more Walk The Moon: walkthemoonband.com http youtube.com facebook.com
ps22chorus.blogspot.com http twitter.com Another offering we are most proud to present... PS22 Chorus takes on the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman, covering her powerful song about social injustice, "Talkin' Bout A Revolution." The kids recorded both a cappella and acoustic versions, and unable to choose a favorite, we decided to put them together into one video.
ps22chorus.blogpsot.com http twitter.com Yesterday, the PS22 Chorus was honored with the Ambassadors of Hope Award at SEAK Foundation's Sports Bra Challenge, a fitness event held in Union Square Park in Manhattan! After performing several songs for two spin classes (that featured Biggest Loser Season 11 winner & finalist sisters, Olivia Ward & Hannah Curlee), the chorus was presented with the award and delivered the event's rousing finale! Performances featured here include: "We Are Young" by Fun (ft. Janelle Monae) "We Found Love" by Rihanna "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga
ps22chorus.blogspot.com http twitter.com The PS22 Chorus gave a rousing performance of 3 songs from their repertoire at the Global Fund For Children Gala last night! Check out the amazingness that ensued as the kids sang: "We Are Young" by Fun "Sooner Or Later" by Mat Kearney (feat. Janelle Monae) "Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye (feat. Kimbra) This performance is dedicated to Nathalie, an amazing PS22 Chorus fan, who is in the midst of a difficult fight against cancer.... You are in our hearts and, to paraphrase a line from one of the songs performed that evening, we know that sooner or later.... you're gonna make it!
ps22chorus.blogspot.com http facebook.com twitter.com Yesterday the PS22 Chorus of 2012 was treated to one of the most wonderful musical guests we've ever had the pleasure of hosting, the amazing Ms. Carrie Underwood, who took the time out of a busy schedule of promoting her new album to come visit and make music with our favorite fifth graders!! Check out this jaw-dropping performance of her debut single, "Good Girl" with Carrie and the kids!! The dueling solo parts between Carrie and PS22's Kevin was one of the most startlingly amazing musical moments I've ever been lucky enough to witness! Easy to see why her new album is called, "Blown Away," because we ALL were!! Stay tuned for one more amazing performance from this collaboration....
