The California-based private SpaceX company has successfully carried out the lift-off of the first commercial supply flight to the International Space Station. An earlier planned launch was aborted over the weekend due to technical problems. The Dragon capsule is due to spend a week at the space station before being cut loose and parachuting into the Pacific. This week, Julian Assange talks to the President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa. Correa is a left wing populist who has changed the face of Ecuador. But unlike his predecessors he holds a Ph.D. in economics. According to US embassy cables, Correa is the most popular President in Ecuador's democratic history. But in 2010 he was taken hostage in an attempted coup d'etat. He blames the coup attempt on corrupt media and has launched a controversial counter-offensive. Ahead of the 100th day of the student protest movement in Montreal, the city has seen the most violent clashes so far with more than 300 arrests over the weekend. The demonstrations originally broke out over university tuition hikes advocated by Quebec's provincial government. An emergency law aimed at restoring order in the province was passed on Friday. Protesters have clashed with police as thousands of activists took part in an anti-NATO demonstration in Chicago, where the military bloc's summit drawing to a close. At least 60 people have been arrested. The clashes occurred as the demonstrators were trying to push their way through a police line to the site of the meeting. Protesters threw plastic bottles and paint balloons at police which used batons against them. At least 12 people were injured. Prior to the incident, the march was largely peaceful. Nationalist Tomislav Nikolic has defeated the pro-EU candidate and incumbent Boris Tadic in Serbia's presidential vote. Voters blamed him for the economic downturn, job losses and corruption during his two terms. His successor previously known for his anti-Western stance says however he won't lead the country "from its European path".
